The Devastation of our Ash Trees
In recent years Ottawa has lost so many of its stately ash trees due to the devastation caused by the emerald ash borer beetle. This piece shows the wonderful but ultimately destructive markings that the beetle makes on the underside of the bark.
The artist, Nancy Garrard, is an active member of the Out of the Box Fibre Artists group and has participated in many of their local shows. She has had a lifelong love of textiles and stitching and has studied under many local and international artists. Nature's colours, markings and textures inspire her work.
Felted and hand stitched.
